Strong female online community, lunch with a rock star girlfriend, and my girls. I’m living my best Thankful Tuesday!

May I just say how completely thankful I am for this little community we’ve built via this blog of mine.  I love all the different ways us women lift each other up thru it, and how we constructively discuss matters we don’t necessarily agree on.  What absolute fun it was to post that menopause blog yesterday, the interaction, hearing all the stories of how some of you coped, are continuing to cope, and how some of you are wishing for the last day of bleeding to come was truly bonding for me.  Which got me thinking about doing another one of my Thankful Tuesday posts.  I’d like to start with expressing to all of you that I’m grateful for every single one of you who not only takes the time to read my daily things that make me go “hmmm” posts, but who also take the time to engage.  It’s nice to know, especially on topics such as menopause, that we’re all in this together, don’t you think?

Another thing that I’m thankful for on this day is the blessing of having women in my life who inspire me even when they don’t know they’re doing it.  Today I was fortunate to grab a lunch date with a girlfriend of mine who is so insanely busy, once when we were at an event I looked at the home screen of her iPhone when she placed it on the table and it said something wild like she had 4600 unread emails?!?!  Can you even imagine????  I asked her how she lived like that, and her casual response was; “Oh that’s nothing.”  What does that even mean, that’s “nothing??”  I can’t stand knowing that I have 10 unread emails, 20 causes me to start to sweat, and anymore than that I literally lose sleep over it.  I am so not good at that sort of business.  But this girlfriend of mine, is number two at the CBC, she has two little kids and honestly I just don’t even know where she finds the energy, never-mind the time for lunches that aren’t related to business.  But today she did.  Today she and I sat and gabbed about our kids, school, dating, marriage, ours and my eldest girl’s, we even talked about our other halves.  It was so good for my soul that I honestly believe it will carry me through the rest of my week like I’m on a cloud.  She’s such a breath of genuine fresh air, and I’m so thankful to have her in my life and call her friend.

One more thing that I’m stupidly thankful for on this, my Thankful Tuesday, is my youngest kid will be landing in Toronto in an hour and a bit.  I will have all my girls in my car by 8pm, then we will be sitting around a dining table eating, catching up and laughing.  A strong, supportive community of women’s comments to read through all day long; lunch with a woman I not only admire but am blessed to call a friend, and all three of my girls at my dinner table?!  Call me spoiled, because if this isn’t the best sort of Tuesday a girl could ask for then I don’t know what is?!

What are you are thankful for on Thankful Tuesday??  I’d love to hear about it.

Love SB

  1. I am thankful for so many things. Like you, I am thankful for wonderful girl friends, who are supportive and caring. I am thankful for my run group. They keep me active, they are my friends, and they too are so incredibly supportive. Thankful for the love of my great family.

And I am thankful that I found you: your blog, your tweets, your community. You make me feel like I am not on this journey alone and what I am going through as a woman in my 40s is normal and experienced by others.

  2. OMG What a wonderful day especially capped off with all your girls with you. And what a blessing to have such a true friend who will take time out of what is absolutely a Very Busy Schedule just to spend some quality friend time with you. I know, that is what you are thankful for.
When I say this I’m sure it sounds like …. Well I’m not sure what it sounds like But I have to say that I am thankful for having found you and your voice. I have to admit that I did find YB first. Loved him in Hallmark and just earlier this year I asked myself, I wonder what else he has done. OMG he is in a series that is finishing its 10th season and I was hooked on MM, the best show on TV. Anywhere. Thank God for DVDs I ordered 1-9 and preordered 10. I started at the beginning. Learning more about him and his family. I wanted to know more about the wonderful family dynamic you have. thus I found you and your Twitter, and your blog (now your TalkTheTalk) ANfd I know there is so much more to you. I look forward every day to seeing what is going on in the Shantelle Bisson world and what the topics of discussion are. And you encourage those discussions. I have become more comfortable in voicing my opinions. I have become more passionate about so many issues that I had been oblivious to. And I am striving to make every day a good day of living, loving and laughing. So I am thankful for YOU in my life, even if only from a distance over the air waves or internet waves or whatever they are 🙂
Thank you for all that you do in US And Canada And around the World to help others. You are an inspiration. And oh yeah Fun too.
